Chamaedorea cataractarum

One of the few species of palm that can actually grow under water. Can be used as a hedge or as small blocker to hide the A/C or other eyesores in the landscape.


Common Name: Cat Palm
Origin: Mexico
Typical Height: 4 to 6 ft. X 4 to 6 ft.
Stem: Multistem, 1 to 1½ in. in diameter.
Leaf: Dark green feather leaf protruding from a dense clump.
Fruit: Round, black, ¼ in. in diameter
Cultivation: Very adaptable. OUTDOORS – Does well in full sun or shade. INDOORS – Keep moist, do not let it dry out. High light suits it best. Hardiness Zones 9B-11.
